Baltimore Starlings Volleyball

Giving Girls A Chance To Fly

Background

The Baltimore Starlings, an affiliate of the Starlings Volleyball Clubs USA, provides an equal opportunity to girls from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds to train and compete at USA Volleyball's Junior Olympic level.  Since 1996, the Baltimore Starlings have provided girls from ages 11-18 from throughout the Baltimore area the opportunity to join one of three teams to compete against other clubs, not only in Maryland but from all over the country.  The season runs from December to June and culminates at the Starlings National Championship held annually in San Diego, California.

The Baltimore Starlings Volleyball Club is an excellent opportunity for young women in Baltimore City to improve their athletic skills and compete on a higher level.  Many of the girls simply can not afford the economic obligation to participate in club volleyball competition.  As a result of having been exposed to club competition, some girls have been able to use volleyball as a vehicle to gain access to a college education.  In an effort to help facilitate this process, the club provides academic support as well as test taking tutoring to help prepare the girls for college entrance exams.

The Baltimore Starlings Volleyball Club is sponsored in partnership with the Starlings Volleyball Clubs, USA, the Parks and People Foundation, the Family League of Baltimore City and the Community Foundation of Baltimore.
